Some of the most common types of wounds include pressure ulcers, lower leg wounds, hidradenitis, Fournier’s, necrotizing fasciitis, pilonidal cysts, and wounds following surgery. Diabetes, obesity, smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, peripheral vascular disease, and chronic venous stasis can contribute to developing and worsening wounds. Burns

Burns can be caused by flame, hot liquids, hot surfaces, electrical shock, or exposure to acidic or alkaline substances. They can be disfiguring and can greatly impact your quality of life, especially if they are in an exposed area such as the face, neck and hands. Burns can be divided into 3 types: 1st degree, which only involves the top epidermal layer; 2nd degree, which involves the middle dermal layer; and 3rd degree, which includes all layers of the skin and can scar the most. Acid or alkaline substances can be very caustic and create severe burns. Electrical trauma from high-energy contact with high-voltage lines and can also be very destructive, causing deep burns into muscle and bone. Dr. Snider is trained in evaluation and advanced care of all burn types. She has had extensive training at a certified level 1 burn center and can treat your burns during the initial phase, as well as during the later stages when reconstruction may be required to treat significant scarring caused by the burns.
